Detectives Investigate Shootings in LaPlace

Detectives are investigating two shootings that occurred over the weekend in LaPlace. Detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting that left a male juvenile injured on Sunday, December 27 at Madewood Road and Kenilworth Drive in LaPlace.

About 4:30 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Madewood Road and Kenilworth Drive in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies learned a 16-year-old male juvenile from Reserve had been shot in the leg.

Through investigation, officers learned the victim was seated in a vehicle parked in the 1800 block of Madewood Road where a black truck was observed traveling north on the roadway. As the vehicle passed the 1800 area of Madewood, gunshots were discharged at the vehicle occupied by the victim, then the vehicle fled the scene. The victim was transported in a personal vehicle to a local hospital. He was then transported to a New Orleans hospital where he is in stable condition.

A motive is unknown at this time. No one else was injured. Officers also observed damage from gunshots to the front of several residences and vehicles in the 1800 block of Madewood Road as well as the 400 block of Kenilworth Drive.

Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of the pictured vehicle, who is a person of interest in this case.

Detectives are investigating a shooting that left a 23-year-old male subject injured on Saturday, December 26 in the 800 block of Airline Highway in LaPlace.

At about 8:30 p.m. on December 26, deputies responded to the 800 block of Airline Highway in Laplace in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival to Laplace Discount (820 W Airline Hwy), deputies located an unoccupied vehicle, still running, with the doors opened. Officers also observed damage from a gunshot to the rear right passenger door. Through investigation, officers learned the victim was shot in the hip and transported by personal vehicle to a New Orleans hospital where he is in stable condition.

A motive is unknown at this time. No one else was injured.
