In early 2020, the Law Office of Loyd J Bourgeois launched a new initiative to celebrate and thank our local teachers. They began sponsoring one school’s teachers’ lounge each month, providing them with sweet treats, snacks, drinks, and lots of coffee! Unfortunately, then the Covid-19 pandemic hit shutting down local schools and reopening them in the fall with strict safety protocols in place.

“We’re hoping to resume our lounge sponsorships soon. However, in the meantime, we wanted to show our appreciation for all of the extra loads that teachers have taken on in 2020,” said Luling attorney Loyd Bourgeois. “Teaching was never easy, but now there’s at-home learning, hybrid schedules, ever changing regulations, tons of new technology, and on top of that the seemingly non-stop threat of hurricanes this fall.”

The LJB Legal team wanted to help teachers “Take a Load Off”.

On the firm’s social media, they asked community members to nominate their favorite teachers to receive laundry services from Drop a Load in Norco. This full-service included pick-up, wash, dry, fold, and return delivery of 2 loads of their laundry.

The winners were: Lacey Doucet, Allemands Elementary School

Heidi Ortego, Lakewood Elementary School

Jessica Farrell, Lakewood Elementary School

Gina Burst, Norco Elementary School

Mandy Ryan, Destrehan High School

Ashley Tero, R.J. Vial Elementary School

Barry Guillot, Harry Hurst Middle School

Aubrey Hager, J. B. Martin Middle School

Tiffany Webre, Norco Elementary School

Julie Ortego, Norco Elementary School

Kristen Anderson, New Sarpy Elementary School

Lauren Waguespack, Harry Hurst Middle School

Jeanie Savoie, St. Rose Elementary School

Kristie Nevling, Mimosa Park Elementary School

Katie Foulon, New Sarpy Elementary School

Bourgeois said that when it came time to pick the 15 winners, that they didn’t want to leave anyone out, so they also provided all the remaining nominated teachers with a Starbucks gift card to treat themselves to a relaxing break during the busy holiday season.

“It has been a tumultuous year, but our local teachers have been a guiding and steady force in our children’s lives through it all. We thank these deserving teachers for their hard-work and dedication to nurturing our future leaders,” said Bourgeois.
