LAPLACE – Crafters no longer need to travel to Metairie, New Orleans or Gonzales to get the supplies needed for their latest vinyl and sublimation printing projects.

Beyond Vinyl & Press Boutique is a new craft supplier conveniently located at 3101 Highway 51 Suite D in LaPlace. HTV vinyl, adhesive vinyl, sublimation supplies, blank T-shirts, tumblers and hard plastic cups are among the products offered at the store. According to the owners, BVP Boutique also offers an array of banners, signs and other branding services.

Owners Kyla Jones and Chatanya Tezeno have been friends for 25 years, and they brought the store to life after Jones expressed a need for a craft supplier in the St. John the Baptist Parish community.

Jones found a passion for crafting while making personalized bonnets for family and friends. Without any vinyl stores nearby, it wasn’t possible to make a quick trip to the store mid-project to replenish supplies.

She joined forces with Tezeno to make the idea a reality that could benefit the people of St. John the Baptist and surrounding parishes. The owners emphasized that locals can get what they need without having to venture onto the Interstate.

“I know a lot about business, and Kyla knows a lot about crafting. Two brilliant minds came together, and we now have Beyond Vinyl & Press Boutique,” Tezeno said. “We want people of St. John and surrounding parishes to know they don’t have to go into Metairie. They can come right here. And if we don’t have what they need, we can get it. We need everyone to let us know what they want.”

Owners hope to add more glitter vinyl options to the inventory soon, according to Tezeno.

Jones is looking forward to seeing people from across the River Region come into the store.

“I’m most excited to meet the rest of the crafters because they’ve got a lot of them here that I didn’t even know about,” Jones said. “There are people from all different demographics, age groups, races, and we all share the same interest.”

Those who visit Beyond Vinyl & Press Boutique might notice signs on the wall advocating for autism and lupus awareness. It’s close to the owners’ hearts because Jones lives with lupus, while Tezeno is raising a 5-year-old daughter with autism.

Tezeno wants to connect with other parents raising children with disabilities to show them that anything is possible. Likewise, she said those with lupus should know they can live a life without limitations.

“Speaking as a friend, I can say that lupus has made Kyla stronger,” Tezeno said. “She’s been able to push through a lot of things while having to deal with treatments. We want people to know this business is the product of a person who has lupus, but she’s pushing through in her everyday life.”

Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The store is closed on Sunday and Monday.
