LAPLACE — In the spirit of generosity and giving back this Christmas, Parish President Jaclyn Hotard spearheaded the first St. John the Baptist Parish coats for kids drive Parish-wide. Coats collected through the drive will be distributed in the upcoming weeks. Residents with children in need of coats may call 985-652-9569 for assistance.

Hotard, administration and staff, with contributions from agencies in the Government Complex Building including Registrar of Voters, Clerk of Court, Assessor’s Office and Council, also assembled holiday baskets for local families.

The baskets were filled with non-perishable food items and other holiday fixings as well as blankets, candy, children’s activities and more. In addition, each family received a turkey or ham donated by local grocers Food for Less, Don’s Supermarket and Matherne’s.

“This has been a hard year and because our community is so selfless when it comes to helping others, we will be able to bless many families and children this holiday season,” said Hotard. “I can’t thank our staff, officials and residents enough for all of their support and contributions, and want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”
