LAPLACE— The eighth annual Angotti Feed & Warm the Homeless Project is underway. COVID-19 has modified the logistics and led to a later start, but the Angotti family is still looking forward to distributing backpacks and meals to approximately 200 homeless individuals in New Orleans this Christmas Eve.

Backpacks donated to the homeless typically contain winter hats, gloves, snacks and basic toiletries such as shampoo, tooth brushes, toothpaste, a comb and first aid essentials.

The family is continuing to collect white above the ankle socks, easy open packaging tuna meals (with crackers), fruit (preferably Cuties tangerines or bananas), loaves of bread, pre-packaged lunch meat and slices of cheese.

Monetary donations can be sent through Venmo @Jamie-Angotti or through PayPal at johncvp@hotmail.com. Donations can also be dropped off to 2112 Augusta Drive in LaPlace. Monetary donations allow the Angotti family to make bulk purchases of non-perishable food items and backpack supplies at a cheaper cost per item.

Adults are invited to volunteer to distribute backpacks on December 24 in New Orleans. Due to COVID-19 concerns, children are not allowed to distribute backpacks on Christmas Eve, but they are welcome to help stuff backpacks on Dec. 23 and/or prepare meals the morning of Dec. 24. All volunteers must wear a mask.
