A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement agent cited a Des Allemands resident for alleged deer hunting violations on Dec. 10 in St. Charles Parish.

The agent cited Andre Granier, 42, for use of another recreational hunting license, hunting without a resident hunting and big game licenses, and failing to comply with deer tagging requirements.

The LDWF agent received an anonymous complaint about an illegal deer harvest near Paradis Canal and LA Hwy. 306.  The agent made contact with Granier as he was actively processing the deer at his residence.

Granier admitted to the agent that he harvested an 8-point antlered deer on a private hunting lease and used another hunter’s antlered tag.  The agent also learned that Granier failed to possess hunting licenses nor tags required to hunt deer.

Use of another recreational hunting license brings a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail.  Failing to comply with deer tagging requirements carries a $100 to $350 fine and up to 60 days in jail.  Hunting without resident hunting and big game licenses each bring up to a $50 fine and 15 days on jail.

Granier may also face civil restitution totaling $2,033 for the replacement value of the illegally taken deer.
