LAPLACE — Nghana Lewis was elected to Division B of the 40th Judicial District Court Tuesday night. She will fill the seat previously held by E. The Division A seat will be filled by Vercell Fiffie, who ran uncontested in this election. He will fill the seat of the departing Judge Madeline Jasmine.

The race for Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal, Second District, Division A, will have to move to a run-off election, as none of the three candidates achieved 50 percent of the vote.
