AOL Council 9623 serves 500+ meals in Moss Bluff

MOSS BLUFF, La. — On Sunday, Sept. 27, the Knights of Columbus Ascension of Our Lord Council 9623 traveled to the Hurricane Laura-ravaged St. Theodore Parish Catholic Church and School in Moss Bluff, Louisiana.

Residents of Southwest Louisiana grab meals and leave with smiles on their faces.

Representatives from Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in LaPlace volunteer to serve meals at St. Theodore Catholic Church and School.

The Knights of Columbus Ascension of Our Lord Council 9623 set up a Disaster Response tent in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, on Sept. 27.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Knights of Columbus cooked and served more than 540 hot meals consisting of spaghetti, red meat sauce, seasoned green beans and a roll. Meals were served to families impacted by Hurricane Laura’s destruction.

Council 9623 observed great damage throughout the area weeks after Laura’s fierce winds dominated Southwest Louisiana communities. St. Theodore Catholic Church and School sustained severe roof damage and had to becovered by numerous blue tarps to protect the building from the elements.

Numerous contractors worked to replace the roof of the school during Council 9623’s visit. The Knights of Columbus were informed that the school was able to reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
