Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Monday, I celebrated my 86th birthday. At my age, I’m reminded that my physical life will soon end, but I choose not to focus on that. I will face life as if it will last forever, but try to live each day as if it will be my last, knowing that I’ll spend eternity with my Heavenly Father.

With that in mind, I ask God for the strength and courage to finish my physical life strong and look forward to hearing the words found in Matthew 25:23, “Well done, good and faithful servant.

In 1980, God allowed me to be a laborer in His ministry of “Get High on Life.” During those 40 years, Jeanne and I have had many trials, but I have been constantly reminded of Acts 20:24, “But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the Grace of God.”

As a laborer in God’s ministry of Get High on Life, I have to remember Il Corinthians 5:20, “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” That scripture is a reminder that as an ambassador, my opinion doesn’t have any place if I’m a faithful messenger as I represent the King of Kings.

Looking back over the years, I now realize that everything I ever needed can be traced back to the first grade at St. Peter School in Reserve. The first question in the Catechism was “Who made you?” In unison, the class answered, “God made me.”

The next question was, “Why did God make you?” The answer was, “God made me to love and serve Him.”

In my heart, I always had a desire to do that, but I allowed the ways of a secular world to distract me.

Now my focus is more on God in my life and less of me.
