Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Not long after my husband and I moved, I received a call from my daughter Monique.

“Mom, let me know when you and Dad get home. I need to get something out of your cabana.”

“You have the key.”

“No, I have the key to your house.”

“Both locks have the same key.”

“Well, I still need to know when you get home,” she continued. “I’d like to store some things from my house in your shed.”

“It’s the same key,” I said. “Before we moved in, your dad had the locks keyed to the same key.”

“Well, that was a pretty smart thing to do! Anyway, please call me when you get home. I don’t have the key to the lock of the gate to the backyard.”

“But you do.” I was almost patient. “It’s the same key. Monique you’re our child. When your dad and I gave you a key, we gave you access to all we have. Go to our house. Take what you need, store what you have to, enjoy!”

For weeks, Monique had held a key and she didn’t even realize what doors it opened. When the disciples asked Jesus the way to Heaven, He responded, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Jesus is the key. His sacrificial death provides forgiveness of sins and because of him, Ephesians 3:12 states that we may approach God with freedom and confidence. My needs often bring me to my knees and I don’t hesitate to ask God for anything – peace, provision, health, wholeness, vision and wisdom. Our Heavenly Father has it all and prayer provides us access.
