The Pledge of Allegiance states that we are one nation under God with liberty and justice for all. I remember while growing up and raising a family we had differences with each other, but handled them with the liberty to express ourselves and move on.

Today, our country is divided and has as much hatred as I’ve ever seen. America has problems and I’m sure long before I was born, the country had some of the same conditions we have now.

I think it’s fitting to share the following wisdom from the 1800s (often attributed to Abraham Lincoln):

TEN CANNOTS

“You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.”
“You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.”
“You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.”
“You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.”
“You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.”
“You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.”
“You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.”
“You cannot establish security on borrowed money.”
“You cannot build character and courage by taking away man’s initiative and independence.”
“You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they can and should do for themselves.”

God gives us the solutions to all of America’s problems in 2 Chronicles 7:14 “…if My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray, and search for Me, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear them from Heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land. ‘
