St. John Parish sandbag sites now open

LAPLACE — To prepare and be proactive for Hurricane Season, Parish President Jaclyn Hotard has opened St. John the Baptist Parish sandbag sites to the public. Residents are encouraged to frequent the sites and store sandbags for use during Hurricane Season if needed.

Self-serve Sandbag Locations: Please bring a shovel and prepare to fill your own bags. Please only take what is needed. Sandbags are available at these sites 24 hours a day.

  • Intersection of Bamboo Road & Indigo Parkway (near Lake Pontchartrain Elementary)
  • Railroad Avenue Fire Station (near Riverside Academy) – Reserve
  • Ezekiel Jackson Park – Garyville
  • Juan Anthony Joseph Memorial Park – Edgard
  • Wallace & Pleasure Bend Fire Stations

Pre-filled sandbags for elderly and disabled:

Tuesday, June 2 – Saturday, June 6, 2020 (8:00a.m.- 4:30p.m.)

Officials remain in contact with the National Weather Service and Governor’s Office of Emergency Preparedness closely monitoring a system near the Bay of Campeche for future development in the upcoming days. Residents should finalize hurricane preparations and stay informed. ”

Preparedness is critical, especially as we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic,” said President Hotard.
