Friday update: St. John Parish reports 830 COVID-19 cases

LAPLACE — There were 830 of reported COVID-19 cases and 77 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish on Friday, according to the Louisiana Department of Health. This marks an increase of 10 additional cases and a decrease of 1 death since Thursday’s report.
St. Charles Parish has 606 reported cases and 41 deaths, while St. James has 284 reported cases and 23 deaths.
Statewide, there are 33,837 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 348 cases since yesterday’s report.
There were 2,382 deaths statewide as of Friday, which was an increase of 31 since Thursday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14.
According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,091 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 132 are on ventilators.
The state is now reporting that 22,608 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of May 10.

St. John curfew will be lifted Friday.
St. John Sheriff, Mike Tregre, announced the overnight curfew put into place April 1 in St. John the Baptist Parish will expired as the parish moves to Phase One under the White House COVID-19 guidance on Friday, May 15. This removes the Stay at Home order for Louisianans and allows additional businesses to open under strict occupancy, protection and social distancing guidelines.
