Monday Update: St. John holds steady on new COVID-19; reports one more death

LAPLACE — There were 801 of reported COVID-19 cases and 77 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish on Monday, according to the Louisiana Department of Health. There were no increases of cases since Sunday’s report.
St. Charles Parish has 595 reported cases and 43 deaths, while St. James has 256 reported cases and 20 deaths.
Statewide, there are 31,815 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 215 cases since yesterday’s report.
There were 2,242 deaths statewide as of Monday, which was an increase of 29 since Sunday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14.
According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,310 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 157 are on ventilators.
The state is now reporting that 22,608 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of May 10.

Governor John Bel Edwards has extended his Stay at Home order for Louisiana residents through May 15.
