Friday update: St. John COVID-19 numbers remain at 791 reported cases

LAPLACE — There were 791 of reported COVID-19 cases and 76 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish on Friday, according to the Louisiana Department of Health. This number remained unchanged from Thursday.

 

St. Charles Parish has 593 reported cases and 43 deaths, while St. James has 257 reported cases and 20 deaths. 

Statewide, there are 30,855 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 203 cases since yesterday’s report. 

There were 2,154 deaths statewide as of Friday, which was an increase of 19 since Thursday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14. 

According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,359 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 185 are on ventilators. 

The state is now reporting that 20,316 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of May 2.

Governor John Bel Edwards has extended his Stay at Home order for Louisiana residents through May 15.
