LUTCHER – Yvonne’s Directions in Dance, located at 1871 Cabanose Street in Lutcher, is keeping spirits high through uncertain times. While dance classes can’t be held in the in person, the studio has remained active through virtual classes and an exciting spirit week to break up the monotony of quarantine.

Through social media and Zoom, dancers recently participated in a recital costume day, a Wizard of Oz “Dorothy Hair Day”, crazy sock day, a virtual movie night and a blue and white spirit night. On “Flashback Friday,” studio members took a walk down memory lane through the past 33 years of Yvonne’s Directions in Dance, reflecting on favorite ballets, costumes and photos over the years.

To cap off Spirit Week, dancers and their families made spirit signs for a big drive-by parade around the studio. Special guests from the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office and the St. James Parish Fire Department joined in on the fun.

In a social media post, organizers said, “It was fabulous to see so many families come together and the smiles on the children’s faces! We can’t thank you enough for helping to make this happen.”
