LAPLACE — As of the Tuesday update from the Louisiana Department of Health, there have been 765 reported cases of COVID-19 and 68 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish. 

On Tuesday, there were 758 recorded cases and 66 deaths in St. John Parish.  

St. Charles Parish has 563 reported cases and 37 deaths, while St. James has 243 reported cases and 19 deaths. 

Statewide, there are 27, 660 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 374 cases since yesterday’s report. 

There have been 1,802 deaths statewide, which is an increase of 44 since Monday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14. 

According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,629 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 244 are on ventilators. 

The state is now reporting that 17,303 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of April 26.

Edwards has extended his Stay at Home order for Louisiana residents through May 15. 

• In honor of all who have lost their lives to the coronavirus, Parish President Jaclyn Hotard has ordered all flags in St. John the Baptist Parish to fly at half-staff until further notice.
