St. Rose man killed in car crash

St. Rose – Shortly after 5 a.m., on Monday, April 6,  Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on LA 48 near Ponderosa Road. The crash claimed the life of 68-year-old Allen Morten of St. Rose.

The initial investigation revealed that Morton was traveling westbound on LA 48 in a 2008 Isuzu Ascender. For reasons still under investigation, Morton’s Ascender traveled off the roadway to the left and struck a utility pole. Morton suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Impairment is not suspected however toxicology reports are pending. Pre-existing health conditions is a suspected factor in the crash. This crash is still under investigation and no further information is available at this time.

Although the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive while impaired, fatigued or distracted, always ensure every occupant is properly restrained, and follow all traffic laws. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.
