Keller: Looking at a young girl’s dream

Most people have dreams while sleeping. I’ve talked to people who live in fear for a while, because of a bad dream. People have shared that they believe God speaks to them while asleep. If that’s so, then the enemy can also tempt you while sleeping. I will never attempt to analyze anyone’s dreams, especially mine.

A few weeks ago, a young mother who is a friend of mine shared a dream her 6-year-old daughter had. She said when her daughter was born she had a twin sister who died at birth.

When explaining the dream, her little girl said, “Mom, I dreamed about a little girl who looked just like me. She was pretty and nice.”

“What was her name?” her mother asked.

“I don’t know. She never told me her name.”

I asked my friend if she ever told her daughter about having a twin sister.

“No,” she answered. “We never discussed that. She would never understand, but one day, when she’s older, I will remind her of the dream she had years earlier.”

Do I believe that dream was from God? Absolutely! God doesn’t deceive innocent children. Keep in mind that those twins were close together for nine months in their mother’s womb.

Do I believe God was sending a message to that family? Without a doubt! To the mother and father now and to the little girl when she’s old enough to understand.
