RESERVE — Scott Walker was the guest speaker for St. John the Baptist Parish Public Schools’ District Parent Committee Meeting Nov. 4.

Walker presented a Social Media Boot Camp for parents with information about best practices when using social media.

Walker shared real-life examples of what can happen when someone posts something unprofessional or inappropriate. He also provided parents with apps and devices that can be downloaded to help keep track of family members’ locations or to help set time limits for the amount of time a child may stay online.

“This presentation was very informative,” parent Latanya Creecy said. “I would like the district to bring Mr. Walker back so he can present the information to the students and also parents who missed today’s presentation.”

Parents who attended the presentation were able to ask Walker questions and share their experiences with social media.

Walker, a former news anchor, is the founder of Scott Walker Media.
