SCC shuts out Cohen 35 – 0 for District Championship

LAPLACE – The St. Charles Catholic Comets came into Week 10 of the football season ranked No. 3 in Class 2A. A win over the Cohen Green Hornets would give the Comets an 11-2A District Championship and a probable bye the first round of the playoffs. St. Charles dominated on offense, defense and special teams to take a 35 – 0 win over Cohen.

The Comets’ special teams came up with a big play early in the game when they blocked a punt and ran it in for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead.

The Comet offense found success against the Cohen defense with a Phillip Tran 45-yard touchdown run followed by a Logan Forsythe 13-yard touchdown run. St. Charles took the lead 21-0 in the first quarter.

After a special team score and an offensive score in the first quarter, the Comet defense decided to get in on the action with a 31-yard interception return for a touchdown by Sammy Joyce. St. Charles took a 28-0 lead into halftime.

The Comets scored again in the second half on a Kaiden Jones 1-yard touchdown. The Comets held that lead to close out the game 35-0.

The Comets finished the regular season with a District Championship and a 9-1 record.
