EDGARD – The St. John Clerk of Court’s office announced the launch of Internet access to their record system this week. Records went online Thursday, Oct. 31. This new function allows the public the ability to search mortgage and conveyance records (deeds) that date back to the 1800s, as well as marriage licenses, using their computer at home without traveling to the courthouse for documents.
The service is accessed by subscription and daily, monthly, and annual rates are available and may be paid with a credit card. Clerk of Court Eliana DeFrancesch said, “This venture was something my office has been contemplating for a long time. Secure information on the records had to be redacted and records prior to the year 2000 imaged before allowing Internet access.”
