LAPLACE — There will be two great family fun activities coming on Saturday Nov. 9, and thanks to one event changing its time, it is possible to catch them both.

The Riverlands Country Club Car Show is moving their time to 1:30 p.m. This move was made out of respect for the ninth annual St. John Parish Veterans Day Parade and Celebration, which begins at 10 a.m. at the LaPlace Home Depot. The parade will travel down Airline Hwy. to the Southeast Louisiana War Veteran’s home located at 4080 W. Airline in Reserve.

Residents are encouraged to enjoy the parade, wave your flags, and show appreciation to the veterans as they convoy down Airline in jeeps, convertibles, motorcycles, and service vehicles. At the conclusion of the parade in Reserve, everyone is invited to a small ceremony honoring the veterans.

Then at 1:30 p.m., Riverlands Country Club, located at 500 Fairway Drive in LaPlace, plays host to the Riverlands Country Club Car Show, which benefits the St. John Parish Animal Shelter. The show will feature pre-1988 cars and trucks, and is now scheduled to last from 1:30 – 5 p.m. Having a car in the show is not required for attendance – All are welcome.

In addition to 30 percent of registration proceeds being donated to the animal shelter, there will be door prize raffles for over 40 donated items and a 50/50 raffle. All raffle tickets are five tickets for one dollar. There will also be Best in Show and Top 10 car recognition.

The make, model and year of the vehicle is required for entry. Completed entry forms with $25 registration fee should be returned to Riverlands Country Club, located at 500 Fairway Drive in LaPlace. Please contact Keith Bourgeois at 504-228-8756 for more information.
