LAPLACE – In response to the news of Bayou Steel closing their plant located in St. John Parish, Louisiana Federal Credit Union will offer options to relieve financial tension for plant workers and their families as they face an unexpected lapse in employment.

“Bayou Steel is a long-time business partner,” said Rhonda Hotard, President/CEO of Louisiana FCU. “They are a part of our Credit Union family. When our members struggle, we empathize with them and work hard to help them transition through a difficult time in their lives.”

The local Credit Union is ready to work with both members and those not yet members on a case-by- case basis to create solutions for financial challenges caused by the unforeseen plant closure.

“In certain instances, we may help those with current Louisiana FCU accounts by deferring loan payments, waiving fees, or assisting in meeting other obligations, depending on the need,” Hotard said. “Our team will help by looking at all possible impacts of the layoff and helping members create a plan for moving forward financially.”
