LAPLACE — Sheriff Mike Tregre, Parish President Natalie Robottom and several first responders recently celebrated a Blue Mass led by the Rev. Patrick E. Collum at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in LaPlace. Joining Collum as co-celebrants were the Rev. David Ducote of SJA, the Rev. Christopher Amadi of Our Lady of Grace in Reserve and the Rev. Walter Austin of Ascension of Our Lord in LaPlace.

The St. Joan of Arc Altar Boys are all smiles at the recent Blue Mass held in celebration of local law enforcement/first responders.

The Rev. Ducote, who delivered the homily, said the church was honored to host this Mass to show appreciation for the men and women who work diligently to protect and serve the community.
“… The true disciple is the one who puts the needs of others ahead of his own,” Ducote said. . “… This must be lived out in reality, and it’s in your selfless service to our community day in and day out that you fulfill that precept. … We’re here to say thank you for all that you do for us in keeping us safe and looking out for us in our time in need.”
Tregre said he and his officers were honored to accept an invitation to celebrate this Mass, and SJSO is very grateful to all who pray for and support law enforcement.

Representatives of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office were grateful for the invite to Blue Mass, which included a delicious meal served to all.
