St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre has named Deputy Ben Teekell as Officer of the Second Quarter for 2019.      He was honored recently for his kind demeanor, guidance and professionalism in helping a woman severely injured in a domestic violence case. Like many victims of domestic abuse, the woman, at first, refused to speak to law enforcement. Patiently and calmly, Deputy Teekell continued to talk to the woman. Eventually, Deputy Teekell convinced her to speak about the incident. The perpetrator was arrested and remains in custody.
