ESJ rolls over H.L. Bourgeois 69 – 7

RESERVE- After East St. John’s offensive explosion last week, the Wildcats returned home for their district opener against H.L. Bourgeois. East St. John was hoping to avenge last year’s 7-6 loss to the Braves on a sloppy field in Houma last year.

The ESJ offense continued to roll up the yards and the scores with a 69 – 7 win over the Braves. Dontae Fleming got East St. John on the scoreboard with a 23-yard reception for a touchdown, and a 59-yard punt return for an- touchdown.

Sean Shelby added a 4-yard touchdown run to make the score 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. Rydell Jackson got in on the action with a 70-yard touchdown run and another 18-yard touchdown scamper to take the 35-7 lead in the second quarter.

Sean Shelby added to the lead with a 30-yard rushing touchdown. Vince Bartholomew would carry the load on a long drive capped off with a 4-yard touchdown run and Ramond Moore added another touchdown with a 15-yard run to make the score 55-7.

The Wildcats added a late score by Cortez Fisher to make the final score 69-7. East St. John will look to continue their winning ways when they travel to play district rival Hahnville next week.
