LAPLACE — There’s a new spot in town to find hot donuts and a full range of breakfast, lunch and dinner options 24 hours a day.
Citylicious Donuts Café opened this week at 143 Belle Terre Blvd. in LaPlace in the building that once housed KFC and Krystal.
Owner Mustafa Salem has owned various gas stations and grocery stores in the New Orleans area. He’s familiar with St. John the Baptist Parish and has heard great things about the community from his cousins, who are also business owners in the area.
According to Salem, Citylicious Donuts Café will have the same menu offering as City Donuts on South Claiborne Avenue in New Orleans, which is owned by a family member. The menu, ranging from salads to seafood, sets Citylicious apart from other donut shops in the region, according to Salem.
Hot glazed, filled and specialty donuts will be prepared fresh early each day, ready for the morning rush of commuters heading to work.
Salem expects the breakfast selections to be most popular. In addition to freshly made donuts, Citylicious also offers the city breakfast with two eggs, a choice of meat, and grits or hash browns with a biscuit or toast.
Other breakfast plates include a French toast breakfast, fish and grits, liver and grits and sautéed Creole shrimp and grits served over a biscuit or toast. Citylicious has a full selection of omelets and five unique breakfast sandwiches in addition to assorted cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, honey buns and bear claw rolls.
Lunch, which also featured kid’s menu selections, includes fried fish platters, fried shrimp platters, a mixed seafood platter, fried chicken and a hot wings plate. The new restaurant offers a selection of salads, sandwiches, poboys and wraps. Funnel fries are available for dessert.
Salem said the key to a successful business is good management and a hardworking team of employees that prioritize customer service.
As business grows, Salem plans to implement weekly raffles of $100 gift card prizes, open to anyone who makes a $10 purchase.
