VACHERIE — Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie placed in the Best Historic Home category of River Travel Magazine’s Best of the River Road collection.

Final results were based off of a Best of the River survey at rivertravelmagazine.com, focusing on the best attractions, accommodations, food and drinks, trails and tours along the 3,000-mile Great River Road from northern Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico.

Thousands participated in submitting their Best of The River choices in categories ranging from best cultural trail, best monument, best public art, best riverboat tour, best brewery and more.

The final round of voting ended Aug.15, and the winners were announced Sept. 3.

Located at 3645 Highway 18 in Vacherie, Oak Alley Plantation offers tours of the grounds, culinary services and overnight lodging.
