LUTCHER – St. James Parish Hospital is governed by a board of five commissioners, appointed by the parish, who are qualified voters and residents of the hospital service district. To continue the tradition of having representation from both sides of the river, St. James Parish Hospital warmly welcomes Leslie J. Loup to its Board of Commissioners.

Mr. Loup, a resident of Vacherie, brings an impressive background and over 30 years of engineering experience to our board. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from LSU and is employed by OxyChem in Hahnville. He joined the plant in 1985 and was promoted throughout his tenure, holding roles of increasing responsibility in engineering, supervision and management. His current title is Maintenance and Cogeneration Manager.

In addition to a proven resume as a dedicated worker, Mr. Loup is a dedicated husband, father and volunteer. He serves as a St. Philip Catholic Church lector, spent over a decade as a volunteer soccer and baseball coach for St. James Parish and served six years on the E.D. White Advisory Council. Professionally, he is a member of both the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Louisiana Engineering Society.

“I am very honored to serve on the board. I would like to contribute to the ongoing success of the hospital and seek to advance the delivery of services that our community desires and needs,” said Loup.

The Board of Commissioners of a hospital service district has the power and authority to manage the property, affairs, funds and performance of the hospital while acting in the best interest of the community it serves. Its first priority is to create and maintain a culture of excellence in safety and quality for the provision of care, treatment and services. Additional responsibilities include organizational strategy, corporate compliance, policy development, medical staff privileging, ensuring adequate resources and fiduciary responsibility.
