Therapy playgroups build early childhood skills

LAPLACE — Young children ages 2 to 5 are invited to participate in Back to School Early Intervention Playgroups hosted by Maria Hotard Stelly, speech language pathologist, and Diane C. Robichaux, licensed occupational therapist.
Socialization, turn-taking/sharing, cognitive and speech language development, sensory motor play will be promoted through fun and interactive activities.
Feeding therapy will also be provided as needed during snack time.
Jude Prudhomme is in his therapy playgroup.
Friday playgroups will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 6, 13, and 20 at Wee Care Center, located at 120 Ormond Boulevard in LaPlace.
A $150 registration fee covers all three sessions. Individual sessions are $50 per playgroup.
“If you are concerned about your child’s development, this would be a great opportunity for them as it is hosted by an occupational and speech therapist,” Robichaux said. “Space is limited, so register now! Feel free to contact me with any questions.”
