LAPLACE — St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre recently accepted a $500 check for the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office Body Armor Fund from the St. Joan of Arc Thrift Store in LaPlace. Since the early 1970s, the thrift store has supported the SJSO’s body armor fund. All officers in the field are required to wear a Kevlar vest to be better protected as they serve the community. The SJSO appreciates all fund donations. The cost of a vest is about $500.
