RESERVE — The Distinguished Gentleman’s Club recently attended a performance of Grease at the St. John Theatre in Reserve. They were accompanied by officers Nataly Mayes-Becks, Daniel Reed and Keith Duronslet.

The “Grease” outing is one of several arts and culture activities that are planned for the group of local middle school students and officers who serve as mentors.

The officers work to guide these young men in building traits of good character that will prepare them to be productive members of society.

The young men also obtain skills needed to become positive influences in the community. These skills are introduced and reinforced through lessons, experiences, and interactions that deepen and broaden their knowledge to become distinguished gentlemen.

The mentoring program for young men in the parish had been a vision of Sheriff Mike Tregre for a few years, and in 2017, he started the program.
