GARYVILLE — The Victor Sanders Back to School Bash, previously postponed due to Hurricane Barry, will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ezekiel Jackson/Victor Sanders Memorial Park, 130 Historic Main Street in Garyville.

Five hundred free drawstring bags stocked with combs, brushes, deodorant, soap, toothpaste, lotions and other hygiene items will be given out on a first come, first served basis.

The event, open to children ages 5 to 18, will also feature free pizza from Papa John’s and Domino’s, hotdogs, face painting, music, spacewalks and raffles for free haircuts. A guardian must be present.

Organizer Nadia Rosary said the Victor Sanders Foundation was formed in memory of her father, who was a well-respected coach in the Garyville area. More outreach events are planned for the future.
