LAPLACE – St. John the Baptist Parish says farewell to Tropical Storm Barry, as the Tropical Storm Warning and Storm Surge Warning for our area has been canceled.
The extended hours of the Emergency Operations Center hours have ended. A Flash Flood Watch remains in place for all of Southeast Louisiana until 7 p.m. as rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are still possible through the evening due to outer rain bands.
The voluntary evacuation for residents for Pleasure Bend, Peavine Road, Frenier, Akers and low-lying areas that normally flood have been lifted. However, residents are advised to use caution in that area.
The Old Hwy 51 Low Road from I-55 to Ruddock is closed, and there is high water on Peavine Road.
