Killona man guilty of crimes against minors

HAHNVILLE —A St. Charles Parish jury found Sylvester Hayman, 60, guilty of one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile and one count of attempted indecent behavior with a juvenile.

The jury deliberated for a little less than two hours.

Sentencing is set for August 28, and Hayman is facing a minimum of two and a maximum of 25 years in prison on the indecent behavior conviction.

The verdict concluded a three-day jury trial prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Connie M. Aucoin.

District Attorney Joel T. Chaisson II commended the victims and their family for the bravery and resolve they demonstrated throughout the proceeding.
