Keller: Humility and respect can lead to healing

As we celebrated our country’s 243rd birthday Thursday, I was concerned about its future. The United States of America, the greatest country ever established by God, is headed in the wrong direction.
In the Pledge of Allegiance, we profess one nation under God. Today, we are a divided nation with more hatred, self-serving people, and less compassion than at any time in my life. It reminds me of the once great Roman Empire that was destroyed because of rebellion toward God and no respect for human life.
Could that possibly happen to this great country which has been so blessed by our Heavenly Father? Keep in mind that according to the Bible, our God is a jealous God. He wants our full attention for who He is and what He has done for us.
Does He have the solution to all problems, including the present condition of America?
It’s very simple and can be found in 2 Chronicles 7:14: If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
May God forgive us and continue to bless us!
