Update: 28-year-old Gramercy man killed in early morning hit-and-run

GARYVILLE — Dexton A. Brown, 28, of Gramercy, was killed early Wednesday morning in a hit-and-run collision in Garyville, according to Louisiana State Police.
Investigation revealed Brown was struck by an unknown vehicle while walking southbound in the left lane of Airline Highway, near Highway 641 and the St. John the Baptist/St. James parish line.
Troopers were alerted to the accident at approximately 4:50 a.m. Wednesday.
According to Louisiana State Police, Brown received fatal injuries, and the St. John Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene.
The vehicle fled the scene, authorities said, adding no further description of the vehicle or driver is available at this time.
