Pedestrian killed in early morning accident, Louisiana State Police say

GARYVILLE — Louisiana State Police are reporting a pedestrian was killed in a hit and run collision this morning on Airline Highway in Garyville.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene, according to a State Police representative. No further description of the vehicle or driver is available at this time.

Authorities have not confirmed the victim’s identification.

Troopers were alerted to the accident at approximately 4:50 a.m. Wednesday. Preliminary investigation revealed the crash took place along Airline Highway, near Highway 641 and the St. John the Baptist – St. James parish line.

Police were still on scene after 7 a.m., and Airline Highway heading East was closed at the Noranda Plant.
