Nearly 700 students made the grades this year and participated in the St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District’s Triple Honor Roll Celebration.
The celebration is an annual event held each May that rewards students who have maintained all As or all As and Bs throughout the school year.
“Miracles can happen when the school system partners with the community to support our students,” said Patricia Triche, who heads up the Triple Honor Roll Celebration Committee. “Honor Roll is a big deal, and we all worked together to make this day happen for our students. We were really blessed to have such a spectacular event this year, and thanks to all who made it come to fruition.”
The event, held at New Wine Christian Fellowship, brings together community partners from local businesses and industry and local government to celebrate the accomplishments of the students.
As students arrived, these community members formed a Walk of Pride and place medals around the students’ necks as the East St. John High School band performed. Once inside, students were treated to pizza, nachos, cotton candy and snowballs. The huge New Wine facility was filled to every corner with games such as miniature golf, basketball, baseball and football throwing, laser tag, a maze, video game trucks and more. Students were also able to get their faces painted, get a manicure and choose from an array of photo props to use in pictures they could take home. A few lucky students also won door prizes that included Amazon fire tablets, Beats headphones and Apple Watches.
All of this is made possible by sponsors Marathon Petroleum Corporation, RTC, New Wine Christian Fellowship, Louisiana Federal Credit Union, Denka, Cargill, Lions Club, St. John the Baptist Parish, St. John the Baptist District Attorney’s Office, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office and the St. John the Baptist Parish Fire Department.
