LAPLACE — Breakfast (and all others meals) were served Wednesday in LaPlace as Waffle House celebrated its grand opening and ribbon cutting.
The new restaurant celebrated a soft opening Tuesday, serving its signature waffles, omelets, patty melts, hash browns and more.
Community members and officials were invited to test their services and logistics before officially opening to the public on Wednesday. Approximately 40 hourly employees were hired, all of which are local, according to Recruiting Director Jessica Herring.
The opening of the Airline Highway restaurant marks the second Waffle House in LaPlace.
Parish President Natalie Robottom said the restaurant offers affordable dining for residents, visitors at the Ochsner facility and motorists traveling along Airline Highway.
“We’ve attempted to attract small businesses that provide opportunities for residents to spend time and money in St. John Parish,” Robottom said. “Waffle House is a nostalgic, familiar breakfast and late-night comfort food spot that has chosen to open a second location in the parish to further meet the needs of the community.”
The restaurant is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and according to Waffle House staff, customers will experience a friendly atmosphere as they enjoy a menu featuring breakfast, lunch and dinner items at fast food prices.
The LaPlace restaurant is located at 1922 W. Airline Highway at the corner of Airline and Tiffany Drive.
