LAPLACE — Lt. Jason Raborn, a patrol supervisor and member of SWAT for the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, is now certified as a Louisiana Peace Officer’s Standards and Training firearms instructor.
The designation allows Raborn to work with fellow officers to train them in becoming more proficient with firearms.
Raborn earned his certification after attending the Louisiana POST Firearms Instructor Course, a stringent and intense two-week program held at the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office in Walker.
More than 100 law enforcement officers statewide enrolled in the initial phase of instructor tryouts, and about 40 passed the initial phase and were accepted into the program that develops officers to become highly skilled firearms trainers.
Raborn joins three other SJSO officers who are certified firearms instructors with the Louisiana POST Council.
