Photo feature: Local students show their ‘Americanism’

- The local Veterans of Foreign Wars invited students at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School to participate in a their annual Americanism contest. Different tasks were required of different grade levels, from coloring a picture of our country’s flag for the youngest students to writing essays for the older students. Students in 1st and 2nd grades drew pictures of the American flag. The 1st grade winners were, from left, Ayden Marshall, 1st place on the school and district levels and 3rd place in Louisiana; Gabriel Lopez, 2nd place; and Nia Gaudet, 3rd place. In 2nd grade, the winners were Jackson Caver, 1st place; Brooklyn Mazzeno, 2nd place; and George Birdrow, 3rd place.
