St. John Parish children & teens welcome at Sheriff’s Office fishing camp

NORCO — Local children are invited to a free day of fishing with law enforcement.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office is presenting its annual kids fishing camp next month.

The event is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 11 at the Bonnet Carre Spillway Launch along Airline Highway and the east levee in Norco.

Children 8-15 are welcome to attend.

Fishing poles and bait will be provided, and lunch will be served.

For applications, call Bernell Charles at 504-570-4885. Completed applications may be dropped off at the Sheriff’s Office, 1801 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace; St. John Corrections or Patrol Headquarters on Barton Granier Drive in LaPlace.

The Sheriff’s Office last hosted its fishing camp Sept. 15, recognizing boys and girls for most fish caught and largest fish caught.
