Michel: Acceptance regardless of size, style

I was recently asked to preach the sermon at church and I, of course, said, “YES!”
For the next several mornings, I sat before God, pen in hand, jotting down ideas and connecting experiences to Bible verses.
While this should have been enough to keep me busy, my daughters kept asking, “What are you going to wear?”
“I’ll figure it out,” I said, without lifting my gaze from my Bible.
Those words strike fear in my daughters. Somehow, they have taken on the responsibility of dictating my fashion. I usually let them.
They pay more attention to style than I do, and it saves me time when they shop for me.
But their job would be easier if I wore the same size in every brand.
In one brand of jeans at Stage, I wear a certain size. If I shop at Target, I have to go up a size.
At Dillard’s, in the most expensive brand of the three, I wear a larger size.
On the same day, I wear three different sizes. It’s a good thing that my self-esteem doesn’t come from a label.
I have learned to be content regardless of the size I wear, the style I wear, of any the many circumstances surrounding me.
I am secure in the knowledge that I am a child of God, He loves me and has a plan that is perfect for my life.
As Paul wrote in Romans 8:38, 39, there is absolutely nothing that can separate us from His love.
