Saturday’s runoffin District 11 was needed after neither of the three declared candidates reached more than 50 percent during November, as incumbent Triche took in 46 percent of the turnout (601 votes), compared to 38 percent for Tregre-Wilder (492 votes) and 16 percent for Shondrell Perrilloux (203 votes).

In Parishwide election news, St. John Parish voters approved a millage rededication with 2,401 in favor (62 percent) and 1442 against (38 percent).

St. John had been levying a special tax of ninety-six hundredths (.96) mills on all property through the year 2027 for public health units.

Voters authorized to rededicate the proceeds of the Tax to maintaining, operating and improving medical and public health facilities and services.
