RESERVE — The St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District will implement seven delayed start days for the 2018-19 school year.

These delayed start days are Aug. 29, Sept. 26, Oct. 31, Nov. 28, Jan. 30, Feb. 27 and March 27. On these days, students will report to school three hours later than their normal start time.

Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction Tracy Hypolite said the delayed starts are being implemented to allow for professional development to improve teaching and advance student learning.

“All meetings will focus on planning high quality daily instruction, responding to specific student needs and monitoring the impact on student success,” she said.

“Our district’s adopted standards-based curriculum resources and materials for all content areas and evidence of student learning will be at the heart of each meeting. In ELA and math, teachers will be clustered by grade bands, and each meeting will be facilitated by identified LDOE Tier 1 Professional Development vendors.”
