Shumaker: See what your college career looks like: Concerts & scholarships

On Wednesday/March 14, the Reserve Campus will be hosting Ms. Courtney Cole and her Country Music Television concert.

The “Empowering Education Tour” is coming to eight community college campuses across the state of Louisiana. The Reserve campus was honored to be chosen to host one of the concerts.

The afternoon kicks off with an Industry Showcase at 4 p.m. Industries from the River Region will be on hand to discuss career opportunities.

All concert activities are free to the public, and dinner will be served. For future students considering attending River Parishes Community College, Reserve Campus, there will be an opportunity to win a $500 Scholarship.

Ten scholarships will be given away during the concert. The scholarship is good for any program offered at the Reserve Campus and available to any full time student.

In order to be included in the drawing, simply register for the concert at rpcc.edu, check in at the main desk upon arrival and claim your ticket.

All tickets must match the drawn ticket in order to be honored. The winner must be present.

The scholarship will be honored for the Summer 2018, Fall 2018 or Spring 2019 semesters.

Concert doors will open at 6 p.m. and after the concert. Courtney will be available for pictures.

With new programs beginning with the Summer semester, now is the perfect time to register for classes.

The Reserve campus will now be offering the Louisiana transfer degree. Take all of the basic and pre- requisite classes, then transfer to a four-year university for the final two years.

The advantages are living close to home, having the opportunity to acclimate to college life more slowly and the difference in tuition will be considerable.

Free food, an opportunity to meet with Industry, free concert AND Scholarships, what is not to love?

Come on by and see what your future could look like.
