Allied Express moving locations in LaPlace

LAPLACE — All services with the exception of Greyhound Lines, Inc. bus transportation will be maintained as premiere shipping center Allied Express relocates from Carrollwood Drive to Riverlands Shopping Center.

The move was necessitated by the sale of the current building, according to Allied Express President Frank Fagot. The Riverlands parking lot doesn’t allow space for large buses to park and load passengers.

Allied Express will soon be located at 1420 W. Airline Highway, three businesses down from Matherne’s Market.

As of press time, representatives from Greyhound Lines said they are uncertain whether transportation services will be temporarily unavailable in St. John the Baptist Parish following the move.

Communications specialist Crystal Booker said Greyhound Lines, Inc. is interested in continuing to serve LaPlace.

“We are working on finding a new, convenient location where we can continue to aid our customers,” Booker said. “Customers can call 800-231-2222 if they need assistance.”

The old Allied Express will remain open for business for the duration of the move, which will conclude March 4. The new location in Riverlands Shopping Center opens March 5.

With a variety of services including UPS, FedEx, United States Postal Service and DHL shipping, P.O. boxes, utility payments, Western Union global money transfer, lamination and key making, Allied Express has plenty to offer.

Allied Express is relocating from Carrollwood Drive, above, to Riverlands Shopping Center.

Fagot said the business has served the community for more than 30 years and will better reach customers in its new location at 1420 W. Airline Highway, three businesses down from Matherne’s Market.

“I hope the move improves the business,” Fagot said. “The new location is a lot more accessible and easier to get to.”

He said Carrollwood is a busy street with regular traffic. Cars often lined up at the red light to turn onto Airline Highway, making it difficult for customers to access the store.

Fagot said there are plans to incorporate additional services in the new location, including document shredding and digital mailboxes, allowing traveling customers to give permission to have their mail opened, scanned and emailed forward.

Allied Express is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
