St. John working to restore water pressure; Boil Water Advisory in effect

LAPLACE — St. John the Baptist Parish leaders said water pressure is slowly improving in Reserve, Garyville and on the West Bank.

Crews are out in these areas identifying leaks and working to preserve the water system, a Parish release says.

In LaPlace, water pressure has improved significantly; however, parish officials say water should only be used as a necessity as crewmembers work to make enough water to meet what is being used.

“We received more than 30 water related calls today and over 250 for the event,” the Parish said. “As pressure improves, it is putting more pressure on pipes. Parishwide we need residents’ help with identifying leaks.”

Report leaks to 985-651-6800 or 985-652-9569.

If a leak is identified at a residence, water should be turned off and the leak repaired before water is turned on. Residents should also check backflow preventers.

A Boil Water Advisory is in effect Parishwide. Residents are asked to boil water for one minute before eating or drinking.
